A 68-year-old man was killed when he drove his vehicle into a utility pole in Walnut, the California Highway Patrol reported Sunday.

The victim's green 2002 Lexus 300 sedan hit the pole on Temple Avenue at Service Road around 7 p.m. Saturday, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

The driver was identified as Loi Van Nguyen, coroner's Lt. Fred Corral told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Kimball said.
