Alleged Drunken Driver Causes Fatal Azusa Wreck

Juan C. Salinas-Reyes is suspected of DUI in the crash that killed a 55-year-old man early Saturday.

A suspected drunken driver who was speeding was blamed for a crash early Saturday that killed a 55-year-old man in Azusa, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 12:30 a.m. on Jackson Street, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

His name was not immediately released pending notification of kin, according to a CHP crash report.

The victim was driving his 2006 Toyota north on Jackson Street when the car was broadsided at an intersection by a 2001 GMC pickup truck reportedly driven by Juan C. Salinas-Reyes, 38.

The truck was allegedly traveling about 80 miles per hour, according to the CHP.

Salinas-Reyes' truck continued out of control and struck a wooden pole, shearing it and knocking down power lines; he suffered minor injuries.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol causing death, driving with a suspended license, vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol with gross negligence and driving with a .08 or greater blood alcohol level causing death.

A spokesperson for Southern California Edison said there were no outages as a result of the downed power lines.

Michael W.--this is because of all the corruption among local public officials and school teachers. Vito Spago--this is because of all the Asians who have moved into our communities.

Someone must be blogging too much. I don't think government caused this one, but I'm sure you'll agree we need to ban alcohol and GMC trucks.

Jay, you quite possibly are the most ignorant multiple cell organism on the planet. Congratulate your parents for a job well done...after they've bleached their white hoods and finished applying kerosene to their wooden crosses of course. Tell us...what is the causal effect of an ethnic group's moving into a community to a fatal drunk driving incident? You might want to check the ethnicity on the list of perpetrators of the most heinous crimes committed in America and tell us what you find. Maybe it isn't the Asians you should be worried about.
