Checkpoint Snags 53 Unlicensed, Suspended Drivers

A total of 2,481 vehicles drove through the checkpoint and only one DUI arrest was made.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Industry Station, conducted a DUI/DL Checkpoint on Friday as part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department commitment to public safety. This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in La Puente.

The location of Friday’s checkpoint was on Hacienda Boulevard and Temple Avenue, and was conducted between the hours of 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.  Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.

This DUI/DL checkpoint lowers DUI deaths and injuries. A major component of these checkpoints is the deterrent effects it has on those who might drive drunk or drug impaired. It also helps to bring about more awareness and encourages everyone to use sober designated drivers.
