CHP and JAKKS Pacific Kick Off Annual Toy Drive

For seven years, the toy distribution company has participated in the California Highway Patrol's CHiPs for Kids toy drive.

The California Highway Patrol's Baldwin Park area office kicked off its annual CHiPs for Kids toy drive Wednesday at JAKKS Pacific, Inc.

CHP volunteers gathered at the company's Baker Parkway distribution center in Walnut to load up a variety of toys from Big Wheels to Hello Kitty stuffed animals to dolls.

This year marks the seventh in a row that the Malibu-based company has partnered with the CHP to provide some holiday cheer for Southland children in need.

"It's a way of the CHP to give back to the community and to need children that can't afford presents for Christmas Day," said CHP spokeswoman Kerri Rivas.

The toys are distributed through churches, non-profit organizations, and social service agencies, she said.
