A three-vehicle crash Sunday on the westbound 60 in Diamond Bar stopped traffic cold and prompted the airlift of a motorist badly injured in the accident, officials said.
A SigAlert was issued for all lanes -- including the carpool lane -- blocked by the wreck.
An airship landed on the freeway to take someone to a trauma center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
While the lanes were blocked, the CHP reported, motorists were using a gap in the center divider to jump into eastbound traffic and get away from the crash site, causing a hazard.
All anes were reopened by 1:30 p.m., the CHP reported, but callers said that motorist were using the Garey Avenue entrance ramp to exit the freeway.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
