Dead Man Found at La Puente Waste Facility not an Employee

The man who was found dead in La Puente was not an employee at the refuse processing center where his body was located, sheriff's department officials said Saturday.

The body was found about 12:15 p.m. in the 14000 block of East Valley Boulevard, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

"The location is a processing center for all the trash in the San Gabriel Valley," Hecht said. "The body was discovered by a worker who sorts the trash at the facility."

Hecht said detectives now know the victim, described only as a Hispanic man with no identification, was not an employee at the processing center.

"Detectives are continuing to process the scene," Hecht said.
