Diamond Bar Deputies Arrest Burglary Suspects

Three men were arrested on suspicion they burglarized one home and tried to burglarize another.

City officials are praising the actions of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies who arrested of three men Monday morning suspected of burglarizing one home and attempting to burglarize another.

Alvaro Hernandez, 33, of Maywood, Oracio Garcia, 24, of Paramount, and Ulyssis Hernandez, 24, of Riverside, were arrested at 11:15 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Jail records.

Authorities suspect the men attempted to burglarize a home in the 15000 Gold Canyon Drive in Diamond Bar, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Mario Estrada.

But the resident was home at the time of the attempted break-in, Estrada said. A dog may have scared off the would-be burglars, he said.

After the suspects fled, the resident told a neighbor who reported the incident to Sheriff's officials. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle and a short time later, a deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description near the 60 Freeway.

When the deputy tried to make the stop, the driver sped off leading the officials on a short chase. The driver merged onto the eastbound 60 Freeway. The vehicle swerved onto a dirt shoulder near the transition to the southbound 57 Freeway and became stuck, Estrada said.

A search of the vehicle turned up several items, officials said. Deputies learned the items were reportedly taken from a home during an earlier burglary. A resident in that incident identified the items taken from that home, Estrada said.

Diamond Bar's council made mention of the arrest during Tuesday night's meeting and congratulated deputies on their work.

All three suspects remained in custody. They could face felony charges in connection with the incident.
