Diamond Bar Teacher Convicted of Sex Crimes with Minor Will Be Sentenced Tuesday

Sentencing has been rescheduled to Tuesday for Steven Andrews, a former Diamond Bar middle school teacher convicted of sex-related charges involving a teenage girl he taught.

Andrews, who taught history at Lorbeer Middle School, is facing a maximum of 15 years and eight months in state prison, according to the District Attorney's Office. 

In March, Andrews, of Anaheim, was found guilty of six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, five counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, three counts of lewd act upon a child, two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16 and one count of possession or control of child pornography.

Andrews taught the 13-year-old girl for about a year before the sexual misconduct began, according to a prosecutor.

Some of the incidents occurred at the school, while later incidents occurred off campus, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Andrews was arrested Sept. 30, 2011.
