Diamond Bar Teen Hits Redlands Man with Car

The victim was standing behind his pickup truck when he was struck by an 18-year-old driver from Diamond Bar.

The Redlands Police Department is investigating an accident involving an 18-year-old Diamond Bar man.

The teen struck another man with his while car while the 51-year-old victim was standing behind his disabled vehicle, according to police.

The older man suffered major injuries.

Police received a call just at 4 p.m. Tuesday about an accident on Alabama Street and Industrial Park Avenue in Redlands. The victim was driving a Ford pickup truck south on Alabama when he ran out of gas, according to a news release. 

He was behind the truck getting out a gas can when he was hit from behind by a 1991 Honda Accord driven by the unnamed teen, authorities said.

The Redlands Fire Department arrived and treated the victim on the scene. He was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda Medical Center and remains in serious condition.  The teen driver suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but police said that the driver of the Honda was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
