Diamond Ranch High Student Arrested for Bringing Gun to School

The 15-year-old boy was arrested for for possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of a stolen firearm, and being a minor in possession of a firearm

A Diamond Ranch High School student was arrested today for allegedly bringing a gun to school.

At around 12:30 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at the high school at 100 Diamond Ranch Road of a 15-year-old student in possible possession of a gun, according to a news release.

Deputies, after coordinating a plan with school officials, detained the unnamed student safetly and did a thorough search of the classroom where they located him.

"Deputies found and recovered an unloaded firearm inside the student's backpack next to his desk on the classroom floor," officials wrote in a report. "It was later determined the firearm in his possession had been reported stolen in 2008."

The student was arrested for possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of a stolen firearm, and being a minor in possession of a firearm, authorities said. He is not eligible for bail.

Deputies booked him at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station, and he was transported to the Los Angeles County Probation Department's Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.
