Driver Existing 60 Freeway Hits, Kills Pedestrian

The victim's name was not yet released.

A man was struck and killed today by a vehicle exiting the Pomona (60) Freeway in South El Monte, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The accident on North Rosemead Boulevard north of the 60 freeway was reported at 4:22 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos said.

The victim was a man of about 40, added CHP Tony Polizzi. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Villalobos said the driver stopped at the scene and was not cited or arrested.

Rosemead Boulevard and the westbound offramp from the 60 Freeway were cleared at 6:59 a.m., according to Villalobos.
