Emegency Agencies Prepare for Annual Tonner Canyon Drill

Residents are being reassured that a live burn will not be a part of the exercise.

Diamond Bar city and fire officials are warning residents that the annual Tonner Canyon Drill will begin on May 13.

The drill is a large training exercise that includes a number of fire and emergency units from multiple agencies, officials said.

The drill is held annually by the Los Angeles County Fire Department in preparation of fire season. The entire program runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13, 14, and 15. Exercises run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Homes in close proximity to Tonner Canyon may notice the presence of fire personnel, fire apparatus and helicopters. Motorists in the general area may also see a number of emergency vehicles.
