Update: Woman and Her Dog Killed in Diamond Bar Freeway Crash

The coroner has been dispatched to the scene and the transition roads connecting the 60 eastbound and 57 southbound are closed.

A woman and a dog died Sunday night in a crash on the southbound 57 freeway, reported City News Service.

The fatal crash happened at 9:04 p.m. when a Cadillac Escalade hit a Toyota Prius that had stalled in the No. 3 lane just north of Pathfinder Road.  The woman in the Prius, believed to be in her 60s, was killed, along with one of two dogs in the car, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.

The second dog was injured, according to Kimball.  The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The easbound 60 to the southbound 57 is now open.  Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol are working on opening the westbound 60 to the southbound 57 connector.

Authorities are investigating a fatal car crash Sunday night on State Route 57 near Pathfinder Road in Diamond Bar that has shut down all lanes, including the interchange connecting the eastbound 60 freeway to the southbound 57.

At 9:04 p.m., units responded to a call of a car blocking one of the lanes on the 57 freeway.  When authorities arrived, they found multi-vehicle crash blocking all lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The coroner has been dispatched to the scene, but information on the victim or victims of the crash are unknown.  Authorities found two dogs in one of the cars, one injured.
