Five Men Are Charged with Attempted Murder in Gang-Related Shooting in Pomona

The shooting occurred outside a park restroom, across the street from an elementary school on Feb. 3, and left the victim, 24-year-old Christopher Magana, seriously injured, police said.

Five men, including one who had been released from prison on the day of the offense, have been charged with attempted murder in connection with a gang-related shooting in Pomona last month.

The shooting occurred outside a park restroom, across the street from an elementary school on Feb. 3, and left the victim, 24-year-old Christopher Magana, seriously injured, police said.

Police allege the gunman was David Gayles, 22, of Pomona. The others charged were Dale Colbert, 22, and brothers Robert and Darrel Wimbley, 20 and 23, respectively, who were arrested in a vehicle with Gayles after it left the scene.

Officers are still looking for 21-year-old Anthony Wimbley, whom they allege was also involved in the shooting.

Gayles is being held in lieu of bail of $2.04 million bail, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate records.

Police said Gayles was released from prison on the day of the shooting.

Prison records show Gayles served 22 months in Chino for an unknown offense.
