Former Lorbeer Teacher Andrews to Return to Court Jan. 28

A tentative trial date has been set for Feb. 10.

Steven Andrews, a former Lorbeer Middle School teacher charged with committing lewd acts on a 14-year-old student, appeared in court this week for a pre-trial hearing, but the trial won't likely get underway until next month.

Andrews, 42, is set to return to court Jan. 28 for a defense motion, said Sarah Ardalani, a Los Angeles County Superior Court spokeswoman. The trial date is tentatively set for Feb. 10.

The defendant surrendered to Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station deputies on Sept. 30, 2011. He faces 17 charges, including six counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, two counts of oral copulation with a child under 16, and three counts of lewd acts on a child. He pleaded not guilty in November 2011.
