13 Injured in Tour Bus Crash Off Westbound I-10 Freeway

A tour bus run by Hacienda Heights-based Travel Tours Americas International veered into a ditch just off the westbound Interstate 10 today, injuring 13.

Unsafe speed is suspected to be the cause of the accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bus was exiting at Baldwin Park Boulevard at 4:30 a.m. when the driver failed to negotiate the curve and veered into the ditch, authorities said.  All 38 occupants, including the driver, were trapped in the bus for about an hour, City News Service reported.

A total of 13 passengers were injured, 11 with minor injuries and two with moderate injuries. They were transported to local hospitals by ambulance for treatment, he said.
