Sheriff's detectives hope a photograph being circulated today will help them locate a 73-year-old La Puente man suffering from Alzheimer's disease and diabetes missing since Monday.

Raul Aspuru Servin drove from his home in the 100 block of Winton Street about 11 a.m. Monday but did not return, according to Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Aspuru is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has gray hair, a gray beard and brown eyes. He is missing his top front teeth, has droopy eyelids and age spots on the right side of his face.

Servin was wearing blue jeans and a blue long-sleeve shirt and was driving a black four-door Volkswagen Jetta with the California license plate 5CNV595.

He left without his wallet, money or identification.

Anyone with information about Servin's whereabouts was asked to call the sheriff's Missing Persons Unit at (323) 890-5500.

Why did this person have access to a car and it's keys? Someone wasn't doing their job! Alzheimer's requires constant care and attention by care givers and carefull prevention of access to things that may hurt the patient. So when I hear these stories I wonder why they happen? This disease is the most terrible thing that can happen to a person! It not only steals the victim's health and life, but it steals the mind and memories earned durring a lifetime of living. These victims require full time care, and someone to watch over them full time. I hope with all my heart that this gentleman is found safe and soon!
