LA County Coroner Seeks Public's Help Identifying Body

The unidentified woman, found in a San Gabriel riverbed near Whittier Narrows, has a tattoo on her right calf of a rising sun with two mushrooms.

 The Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner is seeking the public's help with identifying a Jane Doe found just north of the Whittier Narrows Dam.

The identified woman was discovered at 7:10 a.m. April 2 in the San Gabriel riverbed around 150 yards north of the Whittier Narrows Dam in the city of South El Monte, according to a news release.

She is estimated to be between 21 and 40 years old with brown hair.  Because of the condition of the body, authorities could not determine her eye color or visually identify her, officials said.

No wallet or identification was found at the scene. Investigators did find a gray messenger bag containing two body sprays, as well as a gray "Amtrak" hooded jacket near the body.

The victim was wearing blue jeans and gray size 10 tennis shoes. She has a tattoo on her right calf above her ankle of a rising sun with two mushrooms, authorities said.
