A 23-year-old man was being held today in lieu of $50,000 bail in connection with the discovery of several marijuana plants.
He was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana when a deputy found 150 marijuana plants growing inside a Rowland Heights home.
Raul Villa was being held in the sheriff's Walnut station jail and is expected to be arraigned 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina, according to the Sheriff's Department Inmate Information Center.
Sgt. Christina Baker of the sheriff's Walnut station told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that a deputy saw Villa acting suspicious around a home in the 1500 block of Greencastle Avenue about 4 p.m. Friday.
Baker told the newspaper the deputy thought Villa was a burglary suspect and detained him.
Villa tried to distance himself from the residence, which turned out to be a marijuana grow house, the sheriff's sergeant told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
