Man Dies After SWAT Standoff in West Covina

Lance Henry, 53, was found dead of a gunshot wound in his home.

Authorities today identified a man who was found dead of a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound in his West Covina residence after he allegedly fired shots in his neighborhood and then holed up inside the house.

Lance Henry, 53, was found dead of a gunshot wound in his home, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. The death was being investigated as a possible suicide, and an autopsy was pending, Winter said.

The situation began about 2:50 a.m. Thursday, when authorities received calls of shots fired in the 1900 block of East Cortez Street. Officers went to the location, heard gunshots coming from inside a residence and surrounded it, according to West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez.

About 10 a.m., the SWAT team entered the house and found the man dead inside, Lopez said. No one else was in the residence.
