Man Fatally Struck by Freight Train in Pomona
The unidentified man was walking across the tracks when he was hit.
A man walking across a stretch of tracks was killed by a freight train in Pomona today, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent to the area of North Park Avenue and West First Street about 6:40 a.m., said Los Angeles County fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson.
A Metrolink spokesman said a preliminary investigation indicates the man was struck by a Union Pacific Railroad train while trying to walk across the tracks. Two westbound Metrolink trains were delayed while an investigation was conducted, the spokesman said.

The death was being investigated by the Pomona Police Department. The name of the dead man was not immediately released.
