A man was fatally struck by a Metrolink train in Pomona today.
Westbound Riverside Line Metrolink train 409 hit the man at 9:21 a.m. at the Hamilton Boulevard grade crossing, about a half-mile west of the downtown Pomona station, Metrolink spokeswoman Delana Gbenekama said.
No other injuries were reported, she said.
Passengers on the Riverside to Los Angeles train were taken off and bused to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, Metrolink spokesman Scott Johnson said.
"The investigation into fatal accident was being handled by the Pomona police," Gbenekama said. No one from the Pomona police was immediately available to answer questions from City News Service.
Pomona police Lt. Eddie Vazquez told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin that the victim was walking around the railroad crossing arm before he was hit.
It was unclear if the death was a suicide. Law enforcement authorities
were withholding the man's name until his next of kin could be notified.
