Updated: Son Suspected of Killing Hacienda Heights Woman

The victim has been identified as Vilma Chau, 66.

The son of a Hacienda Heights woman found dead at her home is suspected of killing her.

Clifton Huang, 43, was arrested and booked at the City of Industry Sheriff's station Thursday.  Authorities originally said that Huang was being detained for a possible parole violation and that he was not officially a suspect.

Huang's mother, 66-year-old Vilma Chau, was found in the trunk of her car with her hands and feet bound, according to a news release.  The car was in the garage of her home in the 15000 block of Las Tunas Drive.

Huang is being held on $2 million bail.
 
Detectives are still investigating the circumstances and motive surrounding Chau's death.

The investigation continues into the murder of a 66-year-old Hacienda Heights woman found dead at her home today.

Sheriff's homicide detectives were called to the home in the 15000 block of Las Tunas.  When they arrived, investigators learned from family members that they had not herd from the victim in a few days, so they decided to check on her, according to a news release.

The family members told authorities that when they got to the house, they smelled a strong odor coming from the garage and called Industry Sheriff's deputies.

Deputies entered the home and found the victim dead. The woman's 44-year-old son, who was at the house when deputies arrived, is being detained on a possible probation violation but has not been officially named as the suspect of mother's murder, authorities said.

The name of the victim and her son is not being released at this time.

The unidentified woman's body was found at 9:40 a.m. in the 15000 block of Las Tunas Drive, according to a news release. The body was in the trunk of a car, City News Service reported.
