The Pomona Freeway is expected to remain closed in both directions until at least 8 p.m., City News Service reported.

Traffic headed eastbound is being diverted on to Interstate 605.  Westbound motorists are being diverted off at Azusa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Residents near the freeway are being advised to stay inside, Sgt. Ed Lopez from the Industry Sheriff's station told City News Service.

The freeway closure was prompted when a truck hauling hydrogen tanks caught on fire. Los Angeles County firefighters on the scene were using water hoses to cool the cylinders, Inspector Scott Miller told City News Service.

County Fire Inspector Tony Akins told the news service that they hydrogen was tenting through a pressure relief valve that crews activated after the fire erupted.
