Suspect Arrested in Fatal Rowland Heights Stabbing

Albert Camacho, an Ontario resident, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing Benjamin Cervantes, of Rowland Heights, to death.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his girlfriend's brother to death this morning in Rowland Heights, authorities said.

The stabbing, reported at 1:26 a.m., happened in the 1400 block of Gloriosa Avenue, said Deputy Don Walker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The victim was identified by a coroner's investigator as Benjamin Cervantes, city of residence unknown. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Walker said.

"He was stabbed by his sister's boyfriend," said Deputy Irys Alvarez.

Detectives believe Cervantes and the suspect, identified as Albert Camacho of Ontario, were involved in an argument that escalated, Alvarez said. Cervantes was ultimately stabbed multiple times in the upper torso.

"The suspect fled the scene but was arrested and booked for murder at Walnut sheriff's station today," Alvarez said.

Camacho's booking photo is not being released at this time, but authorities did encourage anyone with information regarding this fatal stabbing to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
