Updated: Death of Three Elderly Hacienda Heights Residents Called 'Possible Murder-Suicide'

The shooting was reported shortly before 9 a.m. today.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man and two women found at a home in the 15900 block of Ladysmith Street in Hacienda Heights.

Investigators have found one handgun and one shotgun on the scene, according to a news release.  Industry deputies responding to the call found two women, ages 80 and 62, dead at the scene.

An 84-year-old man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.  All three died of gunshot wounds.

The man and the 80-year-old woman were husband and wife and the 62-year-old woman was their daughter-in-law, authorities said. 

"The male shot the two women before shooting himself in an apparent murder-suicide," said Deputy Kim Manatt in a news release.  "There is no known motive at this time."

A married couple in their 70s and the wife's mother died today in what was being investigated as a possible murder-suicide at a Hacienda Heights home.

Sheriff's deputies responded around 9 a.m. to the home in the 15900 block of Ladysmith Street, according to sheriff's Sgt. Diane Hecht.

Officials told KCAL9 that a 911 call had been placed by a man inside the house claiming there were gunshot victims at the home.

Investigators found the bodies of two women who had been shot inside the home, while a man was found in the backyard with a gunshot wound, according to sheriff's officials.

The man died on the way to a hospital. Two weapons were recovered in the backyard.

Sheriff's Capt. Tim Murakami told Channel 9 one of the women was found in a bedroom, and the other was found in a family room.

The dead were a married couple in their 70s and the woman's mother, who was in her 90s and used a wheelchair, according to KCAL.

Sheriff's Capt. Tim Murakami told ABC7 that two "elderly females" died at the scene and an "elderly male" who had suffered a gunshot wound died on the way to a hospital.

The ages of the dead ranged from 70 to 90, Channel 7 reported.
