Trial Date Set For Former Lorbeer Teacher
Steven Andrews, 42, is accused of committing lewd acts against a 14-year-old student.
The trial of a former Diamond Bar middle school teacher accused of lewd acts on a minor will move forward, officials said Thursday.
The trial date for Steven Andrews has been set for Sept. 30. Andrews is accused of committing lewd acts on a 14-year-old student. Andrews formerly taught at Lorbeer Middle School.
A readiness hearing was held Sept. 26, with a tentative trial set for Sept. 30, but the trial is scheduled to go to a jury, with jury selection possibly starting that day, said a representative from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Andrews surrendered to Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station deputies on Sept. 30, 2011. He faces 17 charges, including six counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, two counts of oral copulation with a child under 16, and three counts of lewd acts on a child. He pleaded not guilty in November 2011.
