Updated: Truck vs. Train to Close Nogales Street for 24 Hours

A collision between a truck and a train has prompted authorities to close Nogales Street for an estimated 24 hours. Below is an advisory the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sent out:

Due to a train collision with a semi-truck, occurring in the unincorporated area of Rowland Heights, a significant road closure will be taking place for a 24 hour period. The closure will be Nogales Street between Gale Avenue and San Jose Avenue. The closure will cause significant traffic congestion for Rowland Heights and some streets in the City of Industry. Please pre-plan your alternate routes for emergency responses. The incident is being handled by the California Highway Patrol.

A truck collided with a train today in Rowland Heights, injuring the truck driver, a county fire official said.

The crash was reported at 5:47 p.m. at Nogales Street and Walnut Drive, said Art Marrujo of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, Marrujo said. No other injuries were immediately reported.
