Walnut Woman Accused of Fatally Stabbing Husband Gets New Court Date

Socorro Mora, appeared in Pomona Superior Court Tuesday for an arraignment, but the proceeding was delayed until June 27.

A scheduled arraignment for a Walnut woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband has been postponed until June.

Socorro Mora, 45, appeared in Pomona Superior Court Tuesday for the planned arraignment, but the judge agreed to postpone the proceeding because the defendant recently retained a private attorney.  She previously was represented by a public defender.

Her new court date is set for June 27, according to Jane Robison, a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

This is the fifth postponement since a judge in October 2012 ordered Mora to stand trial for murder.

Mora was arrested Oct. 19, 2011 and charged with murdering her estranged husband George Mora at his Brookside Court home in Walnut.  The father of four was found dead from multiple stab wounds minutes after Socorro Mora called the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to report a domestic disturbance at the home.
