Walnut Woman Accused of Fatally Stabbing Husband Gets New Court Date

Socorro Mora, 45, was to be arraigned Wednesday, but her court date was postponed until May 7.

A scheduled arraignment for a Walnut woman accused of stabbing her husband to death has been postponed again.

Socorro Mora, 45, appeared in Pomona Superior Court Wednesday for a planned arraignment, but the proceeding has been pushed back to May 7, according to Jane Robison, a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

This marks the fourth postponement since a judge in October 2012 ordered Mora to stand trial for murder.

Mora was arrested Oct. 19, 2011 and charged with murdering her estranged husband George Mora at his Brookside Court home in Walnut.  The father of four was found dead from multiple stab wounds minutes after Socorro Mora called the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to report a domestic disturbance at the home.

When deputies arrived, they found the defendant in the front yard bleeding from her wounds. Besides being charged with fatally stabbing her husband, Mora also is accused of killing one of the family dogs last September and faces a third count of domestic violence related to an alleged incident that also took place around the same time.
