Walnut Woman Arrested in Fatal Hit-and Run

Ashley Lopez, 21, was arrested Monday at her job in Irwindale.

A 21-year-old Walnut woman was in custody today on suspicion of killing an 80-year-old pedestrian in a hit-and-run collision in Irwindale.

The collision occurred shortly after 6 a.m. Friday at Live Oak and Stewart avenues, said Lt. Mario Camacho of the Irwindale Police Department. The driver fled the scene and did not attempt to render aid to Cu Lee Nguyen of Baldwin Park, who died at the scene, the lieutenant said.

An eyewitness identified the suspect's car as a 2000 silver Toyota Echo and described the driver as a woman with dark-colored, shoulder-length hair, Camacho said.
