A portion of Golden Springs Drive in Diamond Bar has been closed due to a major water leak.

Sheriff's deputies at the Walnut station received a call at around 5 p.m. of the leak at the intersection of Golden Springs and Carpio Drive, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. John Saleeby.

Deputies went to the intersection and found that the pooling of water was possible forming a sinkhole and the street was shut down between Ballena and Willow Creek, Saleeby said.

Traffic is being diverted and the water has been shut down for residents in the area. The city engineer and staff from the Walnut Valley Water District are on the scene to assess the damage, he said.
