Updated: Couple Killed in Diamond Bar Crash Identified

Sharbaden Patel, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband Anubhai Patel later died after being transported to the UC Irvine Medical Center.

A second victim has been named in the fatal Diamond Bar crash on the southbound 57 Sunday night.

Anubhai Patel, a 67-year-old Anaheim man, was killed in the crash, along with his wife, Sharbaden Patel 67. 

At around 9 p.m., the couple reportedly were stopped in the No. 3 lane of the southbound 57 just north of Pathfinder Road when their Toyota Prius was hit by a Cadillac Escalade SUV.

Sharbaden Patel died at the scene, Los Angeles coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter told City News Service.

Anubhai Patel was transported to the UC Irvine Medical Center where he died at 10 p.m., according to the an Orange County coroner's office press release.

A dog also died during the crash and another one was injured, but the animals did not belong to the Patels.

The woman killed Sunday night in a Diamond Bar car crash on the southbound 57 freeway has been identified.

Shardaben Patel, 67, of Anaheim and her dog were killed and a second dog was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. Sunday when a full-sized Cadillac Escalade SUV struck a Toyota Prius stalled in the Number 3 lane on the southbound 57, just north of Pathfinder Road, killing the woman and one of the two dogs in the car, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

Patel died at the scene, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
