Budget Sets Diamond Bar Toward Future
The City Council is expected to approve a budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year at Tuesday night's meeting.
Although financial stability may not come for another year, the city of Diamond Bar has its budget for the next fiscal year set for any possibility.
The City Council will discuss the 2012-13 city budget at its regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
City staff is forecasting a 3 percent increase in property and sales tax revenue for the coming fiscal year. Staff and councilmembers discussed the budget during a May 15.

The budget that will be presented will include a $24,667 increase in revenues added to the General Fund reserves from operations during the year. The budget also includes $6,290,013 toward a Capital Improvement Program.
The Capital Improvement Program, which had been dealt with on a year-to-year basis in the past, will be sketched out through the 2015-16 financial year. The program will still be funded on a yearly basis, but by looking out to future years, the city hopes to better plan to upgrade infrastructure.

The Council will also award a contract for the construction of a dog park at Pantera Park, including a contingency fund for cost overruns for improvements needed to make the area .
Officials hope that the dog park, which will be split up into areas for small and large dogs, will be completed by mid-August.
