CAPITOL COMMENT: Huff Talks Bill to Improve Transparency

SCA 10, which has bi-partisan support, would require bills that the state Legislature introduces be posted online three days before a vote.

In this week's Capitol Comment, Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff, R-Diamond Bar, shares details about proposed legislation that bipartisan backers say will improve transperancy in state government.

SCA 10 would require that bills the California Legislature introduces be put online for the public to access three days before the Assembly and State Senate can vote on them, according to Huff.

"This allows openness and transparancy in state government, which is sorely lacking," Huff's staff wrote in a news release.

Democratic Senators Lois Wolk and Lou Correa also are serving as joint authors on the bill.

"Legislation that has bipartisan support normally moves quickly through the State Legislature and lands on the Governor's Desk," according to Huff. "But SCA 10 is anything but normal."
