“Thank you to my wife Wanda for all of her support on my community service, especially as a member of the Diamond Bar City Council,” Tanaka said. “Also, I want to thank my many supporters in the community and those who worked on my campaign, and especially all of those who voted for me. As a Council member, I understand the great responsibility that you have given me and I do not take it lightly. I will continue to represent all of the residents here in our city and serve Diamond Bar from the heart.”

“Thank you to all of my supporters, and all of the individuals who worked hard on my campaign and voted for me,” Herrera said. “I am honored that I have been recognized as a hard-working individual working to make Diamond Bar better.”

Outgoing mayor Steve Tye was recognized by several people and organizations, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“It’s been a pleasure working with you this past year,” Captain Dave Halm said. “Obviously you’ve made public safety the priority, along with the rest of the council. Along with that we’ve seen the crime rate decrease again in Diamond Bar, the sixth year in a row we’ve seen that.”

The Council presented Tye with a gavel, and a slideshow in his honor was played.

“It has truly been my privilege to be mayor of Diamond Bar,” he said. “Thank you very much for the opportunity to serve you. I appreciate it.”

During the meeting, Herrera was also selected Chair of the Redevelopment Agency, with Tye chosen as Vice Chair, and Tanaka was selected chair of the Public Financing Authority, while Council member Ron Everett was chosen as vice chair.

The next Diamond Bar City Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 20.
