City Council Honors Local Business

During Tuesday night's Diamond Bar City Council meeting, D'Antonio's Ristorante was named March's Business of the Month.

The Tuesday night City Council meeting was a short one, wrapping up in less than an hour.

Following an invocation from Pastor Jeanne Favreau-Sorvillo of Diamond Bar United Church of Christ, D’Antonio’s Ristorante at 808 N. Diamond Bar Blvd. was named the March Business of the Month, and presented with a city tile. The restaurant has been in Diamond Bar for 29 years, and re-opened seven months ago under new ownership.

“This is in recognition of years of service and contribution to the local economy,” said Mayor Ling-Ling Chang. “From my understanding, you have been able to obtain original recipes from the founder. We’ve been there, and thank you so much for all of your contributions to the Diamond Bar Community Foundation, you’ve really been treating us like family.”

One resident spoke during public comments, asking the City Council to reconsider the Site D specific plan. Diamond Bar Library manager Jesse Lanz also spoke, telling the City Council about a new anti-bullying and anti-cyber bullying program at the library and a book wreath display that goes up March 12.

“The recycled paper wreaths are created by Rae Duncan, who in addition to being an extremely talented artist is also this year’s Diamond Bar Friends of the Library Volunteer of the Year,” he said. “Rae has created a set of 14 wreaths, each of which s constructed of pages salvaged from damaged, discarded books. They will be on display at the library, drop by any time we are open.”

The Council voted in favor of approving the consent calendar, which included paying an additional $30,000 for tree maintenance and watering services to West Coast Arborists, with Site D specific items pulled for a separate vote. The Site D section of the calendar was a second reading of ordinances, with all Council members voting yes except for Mayor Chang, who voted no.

The next Diamond Bar City Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at 21865 Copley Drive.
