Congressman Royce's Father to be Honored

The father of U.S. Rep. Ed Royce, who represents Walnut and Diamond Bar, will be recognized for his efforts in World War II.

Ed Royce Sr. will receive the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Distinguished Service Award today for being part of the U.S. Army unit that liberated the Dachau concentration camp.

The now-91-year-old Royce was a private first class serving under Gen. George S. Patton on April 29, 1945, when he and his unit were the first Americans to walk through the gates of Dachau.
