Contract Award Places Knabe Under Cloud of Suspicion

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who represents La Verne, had requested a review of a contract awarded to a firm with connections to Supervisor Knabe, who represents Diamond Bar.

A review of a contract awarded to a car-leasing agency with connections to Supervisor Don Knabe has determined the process was not competitive, but found no evidence of improper influence, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Times is reporting that auditors reviewed a $1.75-million car leasing contract given to Enterprise Rent-a-Car at the request of Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who represents La Verne.

Antonovich's request followed a Nov. 28 report by on KCET's SoCal Connected. The report “focused on the lobbying firm Englander Knabe & Allen and questioned whether its clients — including Enterprise — got an unfair advantage because partner Matt Knabe is the son of county Supervisor Don Knabe, who voted along with all the other supervisors to award the contract.”

Why didn't Mr. Knabe just recuse himself from the vote. The only reason polititcians give their vote in matters like this is called "crony capitalism". My respect has just taken a dump for Mr. Knabe and it may be time for him to leave office. I have no tolerance for any poor/bad decisions by politicians anymore. Get them out of office if they screw up!

I'm now thoroughly convinced that honest/politician is an oxymoron on ALL levels!

Throw the bum out! I have emailed him through the years with area concerns, he nor his staff has ever responded... They are all as crooked as a pigs tail!
