Looking for a way to dispose of that Christmas tree?
Both the cities of Diamond Bar and Walnut now have Christmas tree disposal and recycling programs underway.
Both Waste Management and Valley Vista Services are offering Diamond Bar residential customers free pickup of live holiday trees through Jan. 11
Trees must be removed from their stand and stripped of all decorations, including tinsel, lights, and ornaments, according to the city of Diamond Bar's website. Residents should put their trees curbside or by their dumpsters on the morning of their regularly scheduled collection day.
Customers wishing to get rid of their trees after Jan. 11 may do so through their waste hauler using the free "bulky item" collection service.
The city of Walnut is offering its residents a chance to dispose of their Christmas trees through Jan. 4.
Walnut encourages residents to take advantage of the free Curbside Christmas Tree Recycling Program sponsored by the LA County Sanitation Districts in conjunction with Valley Vista Services. Flocked or fire retardant trees will be accepted, according to the city of Walnut's website.
Valley Vista will pick up the tree curbside on a resident's regular trash day if the customer removes the plastic or metal watering containers, plastic or metal stands, ornaments and other decorations, and the majority of tinsel.
Once the Christmas tree program expires, trees can be placed in a resident's regular green waste container (with the lid closed) for pick up.
For more information on these programs, call Waste Management at 800-266-7551 or Valley Vista Services at 800-442-6454.
