Diamond Bar City Council to Pick New Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem

Besides swearing in the newly elected and re-elected members, the city will say goodbye to outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Ron Everett.

The Diamond Bar City Council tonight will do its annual reorganization, swear in the newly elected and re-elected, and bid farewell to a long-serving councilman.

The council will ratify last month's election results and swear in newly elected Councilwoman Nancy Lyons, as well as incumbents Steve Tye and Ling-Ling Chang, who were re-elected Nov. 5.

Lyons, a 34-year Diamond Bar resident, serves in the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees. She finished last month's election with the third highest vote total at 21.08 percent, according to results from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

Incumbents Steve Tye and Ling-Ling Chang finished with the first and second-highest vote totals at 23.68 and 22.61 percent respectively.

After the swearing in ceremony, the council will pick a new mayor and mayor pro tem.

Also planned is a presentation for outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Ron Everett, who finished fourth in the three-seat race with 16 percent of the vote.

Everett, who has lived in Diamond Bar since 1977, has served on the Walnut Valley Unified's Personnel Commission for 20 years and on the council since 2007.
