Diamond Bar Dog Park Construction Underway

The park is expected to open in mid to late November.

After some initial fits and starts, grading has begun on the long-anticipated dog park project.

Crews and bulldozers recently cleared the brush and grass in the area next to Pantera Park’s basketball courts.

Last month, Marsha Roa, Diamond Bar’s public information manager, said that the park was still on schedule for completion in mid to late November.  The city had wanted to open it in August, but the project was delayed when the contractor had to be replaced because the company was unable to secure the proper bonds needed to begin the project.

On Aug. 24, the Diamond Bar City Council awarded a $103,941 contract to Torres Construction, Inc., enabling the project to move forward once again.

Crews will be installing an 8-foot wide walkway that will lead from Pantera Park to the adjacent dog park property.

Plans include two enclosures, a 19,400-square-foot area for small dogs less than 25 pounds, the other a 39,400-square-foot area for large dogs 25 pounds or larger.
