Diamond Bar Resident Chosen as Senate Fellow

The resident will be a part of the 2012-13 California Senate Fellow.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) is pleased to announce that a resident of the 29th Senate District has been selected as a 2012-13 California Senate Fellow.

Christine Saca, of Diamond Bar, and a Cal Poly Pomona graduate, will participate in the prestigious program that is considered one of the most competitive in the State.

“I’m very pleased to see a Diamond Bar resident get the chance to participate in the California legislative process,” said Senator Huff. “Not only am I proud for Ms. Saca’s selection, I know she will do an outstanding job in whatever office she is assigned too.”

Saca and other members of the Senate Fellows Program will arrive in Sacramento in October. They will eventually be assigned to the personal or committee staff of a Senator for the 2013 legislative year. They will be assigned to work on a wide variety of legislation and issues that affect nearly every California resident.

Senate Fellows also participate in academic seminars with Senators, senior staff, lobbyists, journalists and state government officials. The fellowship program is jointly operated by the California Senate and the Center for California Studies Department at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). Fellows earn six units of graduate credit from CSUS for the academic portion of the program.

“I will never forget how great it felt to be accepted into this prestigious program, which is recognized as one of the best Fellowships in the nation,” said Saca. “Acceptance was not easy and the odds were against every single applicant, but all the work was worth the reward. Being selected into the program only continues to solidify my aspirations as a public servant.”

Senator Huff knows that Christina’s selection to the Senate Fellows Program will serve her well in the future.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process,” said Senator Huff. “It doesn’t matter if your career goals are in the public or private sector, the Senate Fellows Program offers valuable skills and training.”
