Diamond Bar's Dog Park Completion on Track

City officials expect the park will open by mid- to late-November.

It may not be immediately evident, but work is progressing on a new dog park planned at Pantera Park.

“They are surveying this week,” said Marsha Roa, Public Information Manager with the city of Diamond Bar. But the heavy equipment is not in full-time use yet, city officials said.

“The Dog Park is still on track for completion in mid- to late-November,” Roa said.

City officials had wanted to hold an opening in the park before the end of August.

But the project was delayed by four months after the city replaced a contractor that was unable to secure the proper bonds needed to begin the project.

Torres Construction, Inc. was awarded the $103,941 contract on Aug. 24. Crews will be installing an 8-foot wide walkway that will lead from Pantera Park to the adjacent dog park property.

Plans include two enclosures, a 19,400-square-foot area for small dogs less than 25 pounds, the other a 39,400-square-foot area for large dogs 25 pounds or larger.

A few stakes and orange streamers and the weeds gone don't make much of a start on DB's new dog park. I'd like to see a copy of the plans for this area. From what I see this could very easily be a bust as a dog park. It's a treeless area that gets up to over a 100 degrees during the summer and it backs up to prime rattlesnake habitat. It is going to be a hot, snake infested, no shade, small, grass less hole in the ground. I'm not sure that it will be used much after all the extra expense and nearly two years in developing. Shame on our city officials for thinking so little of our dear pets...!

At least we should let people sleep on the weekends! I remember the last memorial weekend, whenRead More Susan Park was full of baseball banging noises starting at 6:30 am and then screaming and kicking at 7 am. Can Walnut Counsel fix that non-sense??
Michael W June 11, 2013 at 07:27 pm
CP is right, the Walnut Council should be working on REAL quality of life issues, even though theyRead More aren't so glamorous. I'd like to see this issue solved/leaf blowers BANNED verses the Council putting in another red-light camera or parking meters to extort money from Mt. Sac students.

During the hotter months, the days are longer, people try to do outdoor work really early or reallyRead More late since it's cooler. What about all the barking noise created when people walk their dogs really early or really late? These people usually have their favorite spots and they just stand there forever while all the dogs in the street are going crazy. Shouldn't this be banned too?

Hello Me. Sure. I have a press release to post from the district on some Nogales Gates MillenniumRead More scholars. I just haven't had a chance to post yet. I have a little more time because Nogales hasn't had its graduation yet while DB, DR, and WHS all have had theirs. You can also use this announcement section to post stuff happening at Nogales that you want the community to know about on Patch.

Why post this book as if it is NEWS? The headline read as if it were actual news, not a bookRead More review. Shouldn't there be a separate section for books and such?

I agree but, if there is, I couldn't find it. And, actually, it isn't a book review; it's a bookRead More blurb for the first novel in my Malone mystery series.
