Huff: Coming Defeat of Prop. 29 Bad Sign for Brown

Huff also details the victory for pension reform efforts in San Jose and San Diego.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) gives his review of the June Primary Election in this week’s Capitol Comment.

Sen. Huff says the impending defeat of Proposition 29, which would have resulted in higher taxes on tobacco, is not a good sign for the Governor’s plan to seek a $50 billion tax hike later this fall. Voters clearly called for reform in the election and rejected a statewide tax increase for the eighth straight time, he said.

Senator Huff also details the victory for pension reform efforts in both San Jose and San Diego, noting that the local reform measures send a strong message that voters want similar public pension reform on the statewide level, and called upon legislative Democrats to stop blocking the Governor’s reform plan.
