Poll Finds Strong Support for Brown's Tax Plan

A new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll shows a majority of those surveyed back the tax plan.

A new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll has found that there is strong support for Gov. Jerry Brown’s new proposal to increase the sales tax and raise levies on higher incomes to help balance the budget and bring in more money for schools.

Of those surveyed, 64 percent said they support the measure that Brown hopes to put on the ballot in November that would raise the state sales tax by a quarter-cent- per dollar for the next four years, the Los Angeles Times reports.

According to the Times, the measure would also “create a graduated surcharge on incomes of more than $250,000 that would last seven years.”
