PUSD Teacher’s Union Snub DB Candidate For Board, Endorse Mollet, Rothman

The Associated Pomona Teachers recommend its members vote for Hank Mollet and Jason Rothman in the November school board election. The only person running from Diamond Bar, Frank Guzman, is not selected.

The Associated Pomona Teachers union, through a political action committee, has chosen its endorsements for the upcoming November school board election.

The PAC is recommending its group vote for Hank Mollet to join governing school board member and incumbent Jason Rothman as the teachers’ choice slate for the election. In addition, the union’s Facebook page said the APT Board of Directors also endorsed Mollet.

Current board member Richard Rodriguez and newcomer Frank Guzman, the only candidate from the Diamond Bar area, did not receive a vote of confidence from the APT.

In its endorsement of newcomer Mollet, the union’s Facebook page stated that Mollet “has vast experience advocating for students and teachers. He will bring a teacher perspective to the school board and truly round out the group that is entrusted with decisions that affect us all.”

The candidate selection process included a review of biographical sketches and written questionnaires. All four candidates were asked the same ten questions so they could be fairly evaluated.

Candidates were then scheduled for personal interviews where the committee asked the same series of oral questions to all candidates. Following that process the committee met to make a recommendation to the board of directors.
