Retiring Sheriff, New Restaurant Honored During City Council Meeting

Retiring Deputy Sheriff Mark St. Amant was recognized for 31 years of service with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, and Boba ni Taco received the New Business of the Month certificate.

A retiring Deputy Sheriff and a new business were both honored during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.

Deputy Sheriff Mark St. Amant was presented with a city tile for 31 years of service, with 21 of those years being spent in Diamond Bar.

“His commitment to excellence is evident,” Mayor Ling-Ling Chang said. “He’s received 127 citizens commendations over years of service. That’s amazing. We were incredibly fortunate to have you.”

St. Amant, a longtime resident of Diamond Bar, will now serve as a reserve deputy.

“It’s been a pleasure. I can’t imagine working with a better bunch of people,” he said. “I really do enjoy working for the city.”

, which opened about six months ago, was recognized as the New Business of the Month. The restaurant’s menu features American, Mexican, and Asian cuisine. 

“Our tacos are really authentic, and we make our tortilla shells from scratch,” said owner Shawn Thonen. “We also have delivery now. A lot of residents have already thanked us for coming to Diamond Bar and opening our restaurant.”
