Skateboarding Chihuahua Looking for New Home

Chiquita's owner brought her to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center because of financial problems.

A 6-year-old skateboarding Chihuahua is available for adoption at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, Los Angeles County animal care officials announced today.

Chiquita's owner brought her to the center because of financial problems, Evelina Villa of Los Angeles County Animal Care said. The Baldwin Park shelter serves Walnut and Diamond Bar.

The owner explained to the center's staff that Chiquita has an unusual desire to ride her skateboard whenever she can, department director Marcia Mayeda said.

Staff members describe the dog as shy and gentle, Villa said. She is being fostered to help her build confidence with people.

"Chiquita is so comfortable on her skateboard," Mayeda said. "We're certain she will make the perfect pet for the right person or family."
