Video: Huff Tries to Amend 'Teacher Dismal' Bill

This week’s Capitol Comment With Senator Bob Huff is a bit different, his staff said

This week’s Capitol Comment is actually taken from a Senate Floor debate on student safety, when Senator Huff attempted to amend SB 1530 an education bill authored by Senator Alex Padilla.

"State Senators faced the House of Origin deadline this week, which meant long hours of session as Senators took up several hundred different measures," Huff staff wrote in a news release.

"Although Senator Huff supported the legislation, introduced following the teacher abuse scandal at Miramonte Elementary School in Los Angeles, he believed the bill did not take nearly enough action to protect the safety of students. Senator Huff, who authored a similar student safety measure that was defeated in Senate Education Committee, attempted to amend portions of his defeated bill into SB 1530 during a Floor amendment drill."
